Eldon Provides Server Racks to Colt Telecom
As Europe’s largest information delivery platform, offering direct-line connectivity to over 15,000 buildings in 34 major European cities, Colt Telecom has a voracious need for data and telecom racks and Eldon is meeting that need at the firm’s Stockholm facility.
Colt has recently contracted for 34 Eldon Server Racks. The racks meet Colt’s rigorous demands for quality, security and design.
By employing an open cold aisle in concert with racks that allow 80.3% airflow, the racks are kept cool.
“Dealing with up to 10kW per rack, ventilation can be a serious problem with data and telelcom racks,” said Wieger Westra, Eldon Product Manager. “The innovative solution being employed at Colt not only effectively keeps the units cool, but taken together with the carefully chosen position of the air-conditioning units, the firm can achieve a significant reduction in power usage. This means both lower costs and a better solution for the environment.
Manufactured from mild steel, Eldon’s Server Racks can be equipped with a static load up to 1,000kg. On request, the racks can also be set up with a locking mechanism that demands use of a four digit code to get to the equipment, making it extremely difficult for unauthorized persons to access to the servers. “Furthermore, the racks are shipped completely ‘knock-down’”, continued Westra. “This means they can be brought into any room no matter what the entrance size.”
