Eldon Aces DNV Vibration Tests, Develops Enclosures for Unstable Operating Environments
Eldon’s Multi-Flex® floor standing enclosures and Multi-Mount® wall mounted enclosures have now both passed the grueling Det Norske Veritas, a serious trial to determine how well equipment holds up to the kinds of vibration consistently found in unstable environments.
“Those building panels for numerous industries—from ship building to rail transport and airplane manufacturers—view successful completion of the DNV test as a important measure of how well an enclosure will handle harsh conditions,” said Per Ulrik Eriksson, Eldon Product Manager. “Many insist on the successful completion of DNV testing before considering an enclosure line to be used in panels that will be subjected to strenuous operating conditions. They want proof the enclosure will perform.”
The DNV tests consisted of having the Eldon enclosures bolted to a U-shaped support fixed to specially designed “shaker table” where they were subjected to rigorous vibration for 90 minutes. Passing the test requires components to continue to function exactly they would under normal conditions.

Its enclosures having successfully completed both KEMA and DNV testing, Eldon is currently developing the prototype for a military grade enclosure designed to handle extremely high stress environments. After the prototype is completed, the firm will be manufacturing 240 special enclosures.
Eldon’s factories England and Romania are presently being inspected for DNV compliance. The factory at Martos, Spain has already been certified as fully DNV compliant.
