Eldon supplies 500 PDU’s to large Trading Bank!
We all know that electricity is essential for the world we live in today. Almost all equipment is powered by electricity and we can’t think about living without it. Therefore a proper power distribution is key!
Eldon has already proven itself as supplier of high quality products for power distribution. An example is this recent project to upgrade a number of data centres for a large trading bank in Holland, especially as the first ever stock exchange was established in Amsterdam in 1602 when stocks and bonds were issued in the Dutch East India Company for the very first time.
The project is to upgrade the Power Distribution Units (PDU´s) in a large number of server racks. These PDU’s provide the power to the banks computer servers meaning they are an essential part of the banks infrastructure.
The order consists of over 500 pieces 19-Inch Power Distribution Units with integrated digital Ampere meter. These units allow an accurate monitoring, displaying always one digit behind the comma, of the consumed power usage of each server rack. This way, failures can be detected in an early stage reducing the risk of downtime to a minimum.
Although Eldon is already the main contractors preferred supplier, Eldon needed to act fast and guarantee a “just in time” delivery for the full batch of 500 pieces, as they can only work weekends and have a tight deadline to complete the project.
Apart from delivery and quality, reliability was paramount, as you can imagine the implications of a power loss to a Bank! Trading floors are dealing in thousands of transactions worth millions or hundreds of euros at a time. These transactions are done in a split (milli)second. Power loss can be fatal in this process!
In order to secure this process the Eldon Networking product was chosen for maximum reliability.
