HANNOVER MESSE - Show Report

Established 60 years ago, Hannover Messe is ranked as the leading international shop window for industrial technologies, materials and product ideas. This April, 200.000 visitors visited 5.100 exhibitors from over 60 different nations.

Hannover Messe is a combination of 10 different trade fairs, who´s joint theme was energy, automation, future technology and young engineering talent.

Over 3.2 million business leads were thought to have been generated from the week long event, with plans for next years show (20 - 24 April) already under consideration.

As this was the first time Eldon had participated for many years, the pressure was certainly on the project team to make the re-launch successful.

After six months of preparation, the advance team arrived the previous week to supervise the assembly of the stand. Although this is always a tense time, everything had been triple checked and contingency plans prepared in the event of any last minute problems. Considering the stand was built in Holland and has now been transported and re-assembled in Hannover, everything went according to plan.

Apart from returning to the show, this was an important occasion for Eldon in many ways, as Hannover Messe was used to launch the new Eldon Power System.  Obviously many manufacturers use this occasion to launch new products, so the pressure is on everyone to make a good first impression.  Although it´s made easier when you really believe that people are going to be interested in seeing the product!

The Eldon Power System (EPS) delivers a variety of different Distribution or Motor Control Centre configurations, and is based on the Multi-Flex range of mild steel floor standing enclosures.  Using either primary ACB´s, Secondary MCCB´s or Terminal MCB´s with fixed or plug-in sections, it offers different forms of segregation.

As well as EPS our new range of Steel Terminal Boxes (STB) was also featured for the first time.  Manufactured in our new purpose-built factory in Romania, the STB range replaces the previous IL range.

Another range that caught everyone´s imagination was our range of ICT server & patch racks.  Always on hand to deal with any difficult questions was our "Mr ICT", Wieger Westra, who in the end was pleasantly surprised by the amount of genuine interest expressed in our ICT range.  Wieger said that one visitor told him "that he had enough of his existing supplier, and wanted a credible alternative, so tell me what can Eldon do for me?".  Well that´s simple, Eldon can do whatever you need us to do, because our philosophy is "easy to do business with!".

We also received a lot of favourable comments about the layout and design of our stand.  It was vitally important that we got the appearance of our stand right, because get it wrong and everybody knows about it (including ourselves)!  Like Eldon, our stand needed to be inviting, warm and friendly, and show a company that´s moving forward.  Our corporate colour is blue, although as it´s quite dark we also used lots of white, to make the stand look really "fresh".

On both sides at the front we had large plasma televisions showing our new corporate DVD which was specially created for Hannover Messe.  Again, the layout and design of the DVD is difficult to get right and easy to get wrong.  It may only be three minutes long, but it took an incredible amount of time to get it right.  We have every respect and sympathy for film makers producing something lasting 90 minutes!

The Eldon Group would like to thank everyone who visited our stand (existing and new customers), as well as everyone internally who was involved in making Hannover Messe 2008 a complete success!

We will be attending several more exhibitions throughout the course of this year.  For a complete list of where we will be going in 2008, please click on this link.
