Elektro Klessens & de Koning Takes Delivery of Stainless Steel Enclosure

Having recently taken delivery of Eldon’s stainless steel enclosure with a new, hygienic design, Elektro Klessens & de Koning, an electrical engineering installation consultant,  is very pleased with the result.  The enclosure has been running now for several weeks at a food production facility in Helmond, Netherlands. The new, hygienically designed enclosure controls the power and electrical steering as well as the PLC for the machine that washes the baskets employed in moving the vegetables around the plant and to the stores. 

At the facility, which produces packaged vegetables and dinner salads, chemicals are released into the air as an industrial volume of onions and other vegetables are being constantly cut and sectioned. This creates a slightly acidic atmosphere so the use of 316 stainless steel was required to prevent the enclosure’s corrosion. And at the end of each production day, the whole plant is being cleaned with high pressure cleaners and soap.

The new enclosure also meets all the special safety requirements of the food service industry. These include its enclosure having a roof that slopes at least thirty degrees, thereby making it impossible for anything to be placed atop the enclosure. The sloping roof also ensures it can be quickly and easily cleaned. Additionally, for the purposes of food safety, the enclosure is held up by four legs not a full-sized base. This creates a situation where a thorough cleaning can be performed quickly.

After quality testing reduced the field of competitors to Eldon and one other enclosure supplier, the combination of pricing and rapid delivery time won the day for Eldon.
